Get to know your fretboard

Find a note. Try an interval. Learn a little with every round.

Ten small discoveries

Answer on the named string. The high e string is at the top, with open strings on the right and fret numbers increasing to the left. Beginners use frets 0–5; the full-neck option uses frets 0–12. Note questions start with natural notes; interval questions practise thirds, fourths and fifths before adding more intervals.

Use Tab and Enter or Space to choose a fret. On a phone, scroll the board sideways. Hints and retries help you learn; only an unaided first answer earns a first-try point.
